Amber & Brit’s Earthy Retreat
Set high above Terranora with uninterrupted 180-degree ocean views, this home had incredible potential, but its original layout didn't take advantage of the outlook or support the way this family of five lived.
Our brief was to create a home that felt calm, earthy and connected to nature—a place that reflected Amber and Britt while making the most of its remarkable setting.
Relocating the staircase allowed the kitchen, dining and living spaces to flow seamlessly together, while expansive new windows and doors framed the ocean views and filled the home with natural light.
Rather than competing with the landscape, every material and colour was chosen to complement it. The green kitchen reflects the layers of native greenery leading the eye towards the ocean, while reclaimed timber, vintage salvaged doors, handmade brass hardware and organic tiles create a warm, layered interior full of character. A striking stone fireplace became the heart of the home, cleverly concealing the staircase behind it.
Throughout the rest of the home, we reconfigured key spaces to better suit everyday family life, including a new family bathroom, a reimagined master suite and a more functional guest bathroom.
This project was a true collaboration. Amber and Britt embraced the process from start to finish, allowing us to create a home that feels warm, grounded and deeply connected to its surroundings.
